Origin of Champion

Our story began in 1952 as Bottarini, founded by Giovanni Bottarini, an experienced aeronautical engineer. With a passion for mechanical parts and motor technology, Giovanni developed the first piston compressor, the B5T-24. In 1960, Bottarini introduced its first range of portable compressors, capitalising on Italy’s post-war economic boom and construction sector growth.

A significant milestone came in 1970 when Bottarini launched its initial screw compressor range, making it the first in Italy to offer such products. The success of these screw compressors propelled the brand forward. By 1985, Bottarini began its international expansion, participating in renowned industry events and extending operations across Europe, America, Africa, and Oceania.

In 1987, Bottarini collaborated with Tamrotor, a leader in integrated air ends and compact compressor packages, under the Gardner Denver group. Champion, in 2002 achieved ISO 9001 certification, showcasing its commitment to quality products and services.

In 2005, Bottarini joined the Gardner Denver group, relocating its manufacturing facility to Lonate Pozzolo, Italy, in 2007. Finally, in 2018, the Bottarini company transformed into Champion, upholding the legacy of quality and reliability that the brand had firmly established in the compressed air industry.
